OUR ROOMS
Caterpillars
Ages 0-2 Years
Our caterpillars' room is a small homely space offering care for up to 6 children under 2 years old with 2 members of staff. It is a bright room with natural light and cosy areas featuring fairy lights and soft furnishings.
The staff at Brook Cottage have a caring nature and utilise the environment and resources to provide a learning enriching environment for your child. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is followed, and Key worker systems are in place. Development is tracked and monitored and you can see how your child is doing through their online Learning Journal. It is the practitioner's priority to ensure that your child feels safe and secure and receiving the best possible care.
We understand that leaving your baby for the first time can be a difficult and emotional time; which is why we offer flexible settling in sessions to suit you and your baby. We also provide regular updates on how your child is doing with pictures on their Tapestry account.
Butterflies
Ages 2 -4 Years
Our butterfly room is for children aged 2 years plus and usually has 3 members of staff working in there at full capacity. We can have 14 children in this room and we use the outdoor space and outdoor learning cabin on a daily basis.
This room has a lot of natural light from the French doors and again has a homely feel. It has two toilets including child sized toilet and a changing station.
Again the Early Years Foundation is followed and children learn through play. There is more structure in this room and short learning sessions such as Letters and Sounds are incorporated into the daily routine. In this room we like to promote independence and start to prepare the children for School.
We offer extra support and small intervention groups for those children that may be struggling in certain areas such as our Time to Talk group to further children's language development.
All children are entitled to free funding the term after their 3rd birthday and some 2 year olds are also eligible if the criteria is met. For more information on Free Funding please click here.
